There's a 3 or 4 digit stamp on the barrel next to the serial number that will tell you the month and year it was made.

I did think they were released in '74. However, mine is "1274" with a S/N of 40681.

Cool. Mine is the oldest that I have heard of yet. By the serial number, I would assume that the numbers start at 40000. At any rate, that 42+ year old barrel and action shoots pretty **** well.

Anyone out there in RC land know of one with a lower serial number? I am just curious.
