I recently bought this 597 that was shot once for $50.00 with a case and 500 rounds of ammo! I added the scope and will add a bipod, paint the stock and also upgrade the trigger and ejector later...I love this little gun.

Just painted the stock today with Krylon Fusion paint. I think it came out decent. I will post some better daytime photos in the morning.

BTW, I know the wall color is hideous. We are currently redoing this room for my daughter with a different paint color.

Actually my boss's son got it as a Christmas gift, they took it out and shot it the day after Christmas and he recently moved out. I heard them talking on the phone and asked what he was wanting to sell. He said his son left his gun at the house because he didn't need it. He asked what I would give him for it. I didn't know what kind of gun it was so I asked him to let me know type and model number. I was hoping for a 10/22 but when he told me about it I offered him $60.00. He says "how about 50.00 and I will throw in the case and a bulk box of ammo?" I said where do you want to meet and I will bring you cash right now. 20 minutes later I was staring it down the barrel.

I never find deals like this so I was very happy.

Looks really good but I think the scope is a tad high. I never seen a bipod like that either.

Couldn't stand the plain gray of my Remington 597's synthetic stock, so I broke out the Krylon Fusion.

I've been kicking around the idea of suppressing a 597, the tax stamp is something like 200.00 ? what did you pay for your suppressor? Is it a big hassel or whats your feelings on it?

Hi guys. New to the forums, but after reading all day decided to do a few mods...

Removed Sights and plugged holes
Polished Bolt in rail guides
Added studs and swivels w/ sling
Added sight rail w/ Red/Green Dot (30mm)
Order VQ extractor and Target Hammer

turned out to be a pretty slick rifle. Cant wait for parts.
