I was so moved by the premise of this pay it forward, that I wanted to do something a little different.
I want to add something perpetual - "living" if you will. As soon as someone chimes in that they want it, I will purchase and donate the Brownell's Receiver Drilling Jig.
Accurately Locates The Barrel Cleaning Hole On 10/22 Receivers - Permits barrel cleaning from the rear without removing the barrel; eliminates accuracy-destroying cleaning rod wear caused by cleaning from the muzzle. Locates the correct spot at the rear of 10/22 receivers for drilling a small hole to allow the cleaning rod to pass through. (Picture and ad copy from Brownell's)
I will pay for the part and for the initial round of shipping, with the following provisos:
1) That each person agrees to keep it only long enough to accomplish the task at hand - I would think a week to ten days should be sufficient.
2) That each user, immediately upon completing the drilling of their own receiver(s), put it back on Pay It Forward and pay for the shipping to the next recipient.
3) That the first user start a thread and all subsequent users post, maybe even with photos and comments to allow all to see just how far this thing might go.
I personally think this will be a really neat journey around the membership with an item that can be very helpful to those of us who do not have access to some of the high-tech tools that many here do.
rdhood, please PM me your address. If I don't get a shipping address from kraaash by tomorrow night I will ship to you to keep this moving along as fast as possible.
thefixer is pulling off the list. I just couldn't wait. We have a week of rain out here and now I have some projects for a rainy day or days. Thanks any way and keep up the good work . I think this is the new list.
Not sure If this is allowed but this jig is great but you can do this task pretty easy without one. Get a decent cleaning rod and a pointed jag strip the 10/22 to barrel reviver slide the rod in from the muzzle end and use the jag to mark the receiver. Remove the barrel use a aircraft bit to drill out a pilot hole through the barrel hole. The drill the size you want form the rear. I have done this many times and works great.
...arrived today (30th). I am going to drill out my receiver tonight and try to get the jig back in the mail by tomorrow... otherwise goes out Monday.
...update #2: I just finished drilling out my receiver. I did it just like was posted earlier, except I used a hand drill. It worked like a charm! I deburred by hand with the big drill bit on both sides o the hole. My blue masking tape roll has just about enough tape for 6 or 7 more receivers... I'll throw it in the box.
Hey everyone, I just wanted to explain why Dr Heckel asked to be skipped.
Due to the length of the wait list, I decided to buy another jig and put it into circulation. I sent the second one to Dr Heckel, and have requested that he send it on to kraaash once he has finished (probably Thursday or Friday).
I hope this helps everyone get a shot at it more rapidly. I am incredibly pleased with the responses, so far.

This is very generous. I will visit the thread and offer up what I have. I am somewhat use to this in my physical community but it is great to have some in a cyber community. It's a mostly good small world.
OK on Dr.
Need nheiny13’s info sent a PM a few days ago no response yet. I got my receiver drilled and would like to get the jig on to the next member. What should I do? Get me an address.

He last visited the site yesterday. Please just go on to the next one in line, and we can get it to nheiny13 when he responds. It is just not fair to the others to wait further, in my opinion.
To the remaining persons on this list: Please follow the fabulous example of those who have preceded you by getting the information, drilling and getting the jig on to the next in as timely a fashion as possible.
Well I received the jig #2 today. I immediately went to Home Depot to get two nice new drill bits to do the job with. I got home, tore down the rifle and went for it. After taking a quick glance at JohnALs post I didn't even read the instructions. The jig made it so easy I had the main hole drilled in a couple minutes time. I then used an 11/32 bit to countersink the hole which gave it a good look IMO...Thank you so much Jcrowley for circulating these jigs!!:bthumb:
I'll include the new(well used once actually) bits when I ship it on to Kraash which will probably be tomorrow...no later than Thurs.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
