Anyone had any experience w/ Connecticutt Precision Chambering?
Since Volquartsen no longer offers their semi auto in that chambering, I'm interested in building one. I want the threaded barrel option, and saw that they do this. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
Probably 20 ". I have a suppressor, but only use it on my Ruger MKIV pistol. I have a Voquartsen in 17HMR, and a Don Fraley 22Lr 10/22 built back in 1996. I have a 17 M2 in a Cooper, and like the idea of a 100yd squirrel rifle other than 17 HMR.
a suppressor on a 20" barrel in Mach2 is a bad idea...unless you're going to put on one of those devices that holds the bolt closed when you fire..and if you're going to do that, you might as well just stick to a bolt action to begin with
you really need to do more research on the Mach2 in blowback semiauto actions, there's a reason no manufacturer offers them anymore
I have a 20" barrel (with heavier charging handle and spring) on one of my 17mach2's, and I won't go over a 17" barrel on anything new that I build, just because of the pressure signs I see on the ejected empties from that gun
As I stated above, I could care less about a suppressor. I've fired dozens, and all are over rated, as far as noise suppression, is concerned. I don't know why this thread is dwelling on that. A moot point w/ me.
Sounds like I need to stick w/ my Cooper 17 M2.
I like my Cooper, Volquartsen, and Anschutz Exemplar in 17HMR; probably will stick w/ them.
Thanks for all the information. You all have, probably, saved money for me. I'm very glad I sought input, here, now.
I never had any kabooms in my 17 inch green mountain 96/22 barrel build with heavy bolt handle. Maybe in a semi auto shorter would be better than longer for 17 hm2 barrel.
I've never had a kaboom either, but I keep my chambers and bores squeaky clean too
for gray squirrels it's not much of an issue since you'll only fire it about a dozen times in an outing, but if your thinking about one for a prairie dog town, I'd use something else
You can certainly ask Randy but I'll bet he won't touch a 17hm2 conversion. Though some of us have had good luck, there many more bad luck stories. I really like mine but it is a VQ bolt/barrel. 16". If you do this I recommend a 10"-16" barrel. I say 10" meaning a Charger or SBR. Or another way would be a Savage A17hm2 and get it tuned up. No one has yet but I'd bet it would take to a good tuning.
Any who, good luck on your venture. Be safe and careful
I shot my E Arthur Brown conversion yesterday, I have a Kidd 22 mag trigger in it. What a pleasure, never a kaboom or misfire. Lazer accurate. I do not know if they offer the bolt, barrel any more as I built it 15 years ago.:gun4:

my 20" barreled rifle is made from the now discontinued EABCO parts too, it's using the barrel and heavy charging handle and I added a Magnum hammer spring to the mix awhile back...never a kaboom here either
the last couple 17Mach2's I've built, use Power Custom heavy handles, and I've switched to 16.5"' GM fluted sporter weight barrels that I bought years ago when Green Mountain was dumping their discontinued Mach2 barrels off cheap
A few guys are milling out or drilling holes in the bolt & inserting tungsten for added weight. If you search the forum I would think you could find a post or two. Don’t remember the weight they were going for.
After this feedback, I'm sticking w/ my Cooper in 17M2. Thanks for all the information.
