I knew the hammer and trigger pack had undergone substantial changes when Ruger switched to plastic trigger groups. Is that when the bolt was also modified? My 2006 bolt while a bit rough looks like my 1989 bolt. However a new replacement bolt I purchased to have a spare on hand with the Ruger name etched into the exposed face looks strange. I see some raised steps on the top surface not present on the older bolts and a groove on the underside that likewise was not on the original bolts. I guess Ruger changed some dimensions to minimize the material removal for machining and maybe reduce rubbing in the receiver to improve function. Can anyone describe each generation of Ruger 10/22 bolt?
