If you don't overspend, and it's really in that condition, you won't be disappointed.

"Fair to good" doesn't equate to 99%. Without pics-we're only guessing.
A true 99%er might be an $1800 gun, but not a well used fair to good gun.
Pay whatever it's worth to you.

I agree w. Camster. I have a one owner 54.18MSR in excellent 99% that I would not part for less than C$2500. They don't make em any more. Good luck w your plans.

Yep, and the "R" adds a nice amount to the value. I think that most guys would pay up for a MSR, rather than buy the older MS single shot version.

You're right Steelringer...."they don't make them any more".... I have two 54.18 BR50 repeaters from the Anschutz Custom Shop which were a limited run of less than 10 of such BR rifles. Someone would have to make me an offer I couldn't refuse...... before I part with them......

You know, if you are having doubts about buying this 2nd hand rifle/action, you probably shouldn't buy it. It's not a brand-new firearm that you can return to the store. Sometimes a person's intuition is telling him something........

IMO this light rust in bore should be red flags, unless you are planning to just look at the rifle or don't care how it shoots

Yep, I've learned that lesson the hard way. Your gut is the only body part that won't lie to you.
Be wary of guns (and other things) that come with a "but", such as; " in nice shape, but....." A gun known for great accuracy certainly shouldn't have an excuse attached to barrel condition.(unless it's a great bargain, economic to re-barrel.)

I had to pay $3000 for mine after searching for "the one" for 7 years. I wouldn't sell it if someone offered me $10,000.
