" tilted " ??

hi all,

am looking at boyds' monterey style stock in walnut and wondering if that forward slanting cheekpiece works pretty well, and if any one has a pic or two of the complete gun in that stock, would sure appreciate it.

thanks,

rico....

Here ya' go Rico

This style cheekpiece is especially nice on a heavy recoiling rifle. As the stock moves into your shoulder the slant pulls it away from your face.
As on Weatherby .300 magnums, etc. Hardly needed on 10/22's, but it's sexy

generally, that is true.

for me, i like a cheekpiece. also like my scope as close to my eye as possible.
also, depends how high the scope rings are which normally is determined by the size of the objective bell size. am looking at three possibilities right now.
depending on bbl taper or bull. that bit of a down ward slope may not be a big deal depending on how far back i can place the scope. still in limbo.

BTW, fullchoke, thanks for the pic. helps me decide on my 1st walnut for a 10/22 build, and will be a whole new stock prep, stain, etc, experience.

rico....

Thanks earth. You are correct about the cheekpiece in general. It's just the slope, slant, tilt, whatever that helps with the recoil thing.
