I had one of my Cooper Arms Montana Varminters (MTVs), an M22 chambered in .308, changed to their new Phoenix configuration, which uses a synthetic stock modeled after the Montana Varminter stock, mainly in that it has the varmint forend and buick vents, but lacks checkering and a steel grip cap, neither of which are necessary due to the synthetic stock and its texturing. See: http://www.cooperfirearms.com/phoenix.html

The Phoenix stock's base color is black or charcoal grey with a reddish cobweb patttern. It's not overly red, so it blends very nicely, and is quite attractive, and, of course, functional.

My dad and I again got Wyoming non-resident antelope tags for this year, so this rifle, my antelope rifle, will again be used for that hunt, this time with a synthetic stock. Of course, I still have its original AA+ grade Claro Walnut stock.

What did they charge you to fit the stock to your rifle?
Thanks

Cooper Arms charges $325 for changing one of their rifles, limited to the M21 and M22 actions in right-handed configuration only, which includes the stock and the fitting of it to your action. You get your original (fitted) stock back, so you end up with two stocks for your rifle.

Who makes this stock?

I have heard (read a post, not sure if its true), that they are planning to use Bell & Carlson stock on the new BR gun. If this stock is a B&C, the same pattern (red spiderweb) would look really nice on their BR stock.

Just my 0,02 cent

Bell & Carlson indeed makes the Phoenix stock, exclusively for Cooper Arms.

I also heard that they are planning on using B&C for their 22 BR rifle. Any news on how it is comming along. Have read some are a bit worried about their quality? Any comments on this?

If they make the BR stock, I would love it, if they kept the same "spiderweb" effect on the stock..also in red as the phoenix.

LUNDE ---MTV .204 Phoenix

Your pictures are so well executed that I firmly believe you could make a square pine 2x4 with a Cooper recvr-barrel even look good
