Hate that this happened and was trying to figure it out...gloves and all and was stymied...then I saw the pic of your MKIII in the picture thread...and with that short barrel its now clear how it could happen.

Heal quick ...

Jeff, I hope you heal up right quick. I knew I liked long barrelled pistols for a reason... probably harder for this sort of thing to happen.

I think you need to switch to a Charger with a 28" barrel. It would be safer.

Dang dude! You got off a bit better than my buddy that decided to try to catch a .45 round...
Three surgeries, two steel plates and 4 years later, he still doesnt have 100% use in all his fingers, not much feeling either and gets cold quicker than a girl when we go out fishing. He has a pretty good bump on the back of his hand and some good scars on the palm.
His was a bad mix of booze after work..

I was at the range when alcohol and gun powder came together . Fool decided he could keep a CB cap from exiting a 22 rifle by holding his thumb tightly over the muzzle. His theory about the air pressure keeping the bullet in was proven wrong as the 29grain projectile passed through his thumb. He did prove that he could bleed profusely though. Accidents happen ! Stupid takes planning !!

Any pics yet? Also I'd like to see the gun to see how this happened. If you do post the pics I'd like to let you know I'll be showing them to a few people to teach them about gun safety. It's my friends who have been shooting for a while. They've become complacent.

Now, that's got to hurt, OUCH!
Like others I would be interested in just how it happened as I don't want to end up in the hurt. Hope the pain eases.

First:
I'm glad you're mostly OK

Now:
How the hell were you holding the gun that you got a finger over the muzzle? Trying to hold it down on the bag in front or something?
I was picturing a shorty barrel gun, like one of the 3" deals from aftermarket companies, with you monkeying around in front of a oversized optic ... but now I'm back to being baffled.

Seriously, take a handgun safety course, it seems that decades of having the business end out of reach during operation have caused you to have some bad habits. And ditch the rest//bench/bags nonsense, if your hands are both on the grip, they aren't in front of the muzzle!
