No, guys, he's shooting lefty. He said a couple times that it was his off- or weak- hand and that it was his right index finger.

I can understand the excitement of the first time with a new toy, but this must have been a little awkward to hold. He said he had gloves on so maybe it was cold and he just had to get out to the range to try this one out. Kind of like the first time I shot a centerfire semi-auto pistol and whacked the thumb of my supporting hand REALLY hard with the recoiling slide. It was bruised and had torn skin. I'll never do that again!

it was cold here in Mi. I was wearing gloves and shooting off a bag rest with rabbit ears. I am left handed ,so its right index finger that I shot. I was sighting in my reddot ,shot made adjustment, pulled up , and shot again ,there was bearly any report from my MKIII ,I must have griped the gun with my right finger directly over the muzzle. It did not hurt at first just felt like I bumped my finger between gun butt and railing on my deck. It wasn't until I noticed the little hole in my glove that I realized that I shot myself. Next set in panic. How do I explain to my lovely wife (who did not want me to get a handgun in the 1st place) that I just shot myself. I am sure if I had not worn the gloves I would have felt where my finger actually was. I am 49 yrs. old and have shot and handled guns both hunting and target shooting since I was 8 yrs.old. This is the first hand gun I have owned and have had it 3 wks. know. My wife has been great about me having rifles and shotguns. And I taught our 2 daughters from the age of 10 how to use and care for guns,(both are awsome shots) wiffey was ok with that too. But she believes handguns serve 1 purpose , to kill people. So I got the I TOLD YOU SO SPEACH FROM HELL when the docter told us I would not loose my finger. And the stress was gone She said now I know you're ok I'm gonna kill ya. Not really don't call the cops boys. Thanks For Listning Jeff

Jeff,
I completely understand your situation and mine is almost identical. I sure as heck didn't show my wife the time I whacked my thumb. They already think we're dumb without providing them with the proof. Glad you're ok and we feel for you...

"handguns serve 1 purpose , to kill people." see you proved her wrong. Now all she can say is hand guns are good for wounding people ! My brother shot his social finger from the pad through the finger nail with a Contender 22lr. He was shooting at turtles in a pond , noon break out deer hunting . He told the ER doc to "hurry up I've got to get back to the stand for the afternoon hunt". Doctor took a small cotton tipped swab dipped in Betadine and ran it through the hole from the pad out the finger nail and all of the talking stopped !! he bandaged it , after he applied neosporin, and said to go hunt and keep it dry.
He lost the feeling in the tip of his finger but the nail grew off and all there is to remember his "accident" by is a dark spot in his finger.
Of course we do not let him forget it , least we could do ! I am sure he would do it to me !!

Man that sucks bad. Glad your ok and get to keep your finger and hopefully your gun too.

While we have never shot ourselves me and my future brother in law have proved how stupid we could be.
He had A.D. #1 with his .45acp and shot a hole about halfway threw the house
And his A.D. #2 was shooting his bed.

Mine was reversed I shot the bed first and then tried to shoot a hole threw the roof, thankfully it stopped in the second 2x4 lol cause it was just re decked and shingled.

Hope the finger heals quick.

My stupid ex-girlfriend (stupid is an understatement) shot a hole through my living room wall towards the SCHOOL in back.

It was really cool because I was standing there telling my friend from England who hates guns and thinks they should be illegal "yeah, they are only as safe as the user".

Right as it was coming out of my mouth...BANG!!!!!

Unfortunately, I was unable to convince him the private pistol ownership is a good idea.

I know that hurt !! I usually try to keep my fingers or any other body parts for that matter away from the front of the muzzle when I shoot . It really helps avoid injuries and it's worked pretty good so far. I encourage you to try it out next time.

Jeff, hope your finger mends 100%.

I have felt some similiar finger pain. About 20 years ago I got a splinter in my right index finger in the middle joint area. Did some home surgery to try to get it out. Not successful and area became very blue. Went to Doc and he sent me to hand specialist. Needed surgery at hospital, said I had infection in tendon area. Kept me overnight. During night woke with intense throbbing in finger. Needed pain meds to get back to sleep. Doc and hospital bill around $2200.00.

I still don't understand how the heck you got you finger in front of the business end of the barrel and your finger on the trigger at the same time. Glad you are OK...
