Hello Mossberg friends. Been a while since I stumbled across a nice old Mossy .22 but found this 1950s Mossberg 183D-B in .410 bore. Only came with the installed FC and no choke wrench. I presume the wrench is some type of spanner?? Havlin's might have the other choke(s) that originally came with it (IC?); but the wrench may be a little harder to find. Thought ya'll would enjoy seeing it. Anyone with thoughts on the choke wrench? Saw a nice 44US at the LGS but it was a little pricey. Passed on the 44US and came home with a .410.
Tnx again Terry for the heads-up on the Mossberg choke wrench. The wrench from eBay arrived today. I still need to find the other original choke. I think the 183D-B originally came with Full and Modified chokes, and the wrench as a set.
Tnx for the consideration Terry. I think the OEM was Full and Modified, but I'm not sure on that. The Full has a pretty tight pattern at about 20 yards.
Great looking shotgun. I had one when I was in high school and sold it to a friend. Mine was a full choke and it held a tight pattern. I have tried to buy it back from the guy who bought it over 40 years ago but he will not part with it.
I can see why you want it back, and why he may want to keep it. This little .410 has a nice tight pattern. Should be good for a little hunting <25 yards.
Tnx Gunsisme....a total impulse purchase when I saw it. Now I'm looking around for .410 #6 shot and parts. LOL
