You are right about the anniversary being chrome. My mistake. Funny how Marlin collectors/sellers always call all the "Squirrel" Marlin A-DL anniversary rifles. Maybe sounds better to get crazy prices for these rifles. My friend that owns the rifle pictured had two of each of the chrome ones. If you check Marlin made the A-DL in 1960. Pictured here is one of only 4 made in '60. I didn't want to do the work for that reason. He decided to do it because he is going to keep it until he goes toes up.

I'm very familiar with both model rifles because I've owned these two examples for more than 25 years:

Kaynine, Nice pair but I like the blued ones better. I am more with the traditional looking rifles. I have seen a few chrome ones other than my friends with the chrome peeling of on the rear of the action near the hammer. I always thought the chrome could create issues if they got used. You should be proud to own the rifles pictured as rare as they can be to find one.

Not a problem with my example, but I could see how it would happen if the rifle was heavily used, or abused.That's one reason why I don't usually like commemoratives firearms as a general practice.
