Model 1 Sales 22LR AR kit

I'd like to try one of their 22LR AR barrels but rather not have to buy their BCG...
http://www.model1sales.com/index.cfm...ategory_id=444

Their barrels say they require their BCG but use Black Dog mags, just like CMMG/RTB

Regarding their M1S BCG, specifically, will it work with CMMG/RTB style 22LR AR barrels or is it proprietary to their barrel? Extractor position or something like that...

The Model 1 uses a 0.500" collar like the Spikes whereas the CMMG uses a 0.460" collar.

Is that the only difference?

Could the barrel extension be turned down 0.04" to work with a CMMG bolt and barrel collar or is the barrel extension a different length, too?

If the barrel extension (the nub) were turned down and groove added for the CMMG detent, the CMMG collar could be shortened.

I believe lots of thing could be done, but that you might arrive at a solution that didn't make sense economically.

I'm curious what M1S offering scratches the itch no one else can reach.

The easiest solution would be to use the correct .500" collar versus trying to modify the barrel extension. The .500" collars do fit the CMMG bolt.

I don't think they sell just the collar...

Indeed. I can't tell whether M1S sells collars separately, but Velocity does.

Best way to do an XM177E2 barrel would be have Retro Arms Works (John Thomas) take a RTB Pencil Barrel and A1 FSB and reprofile/cut Barrel and machine Bayo Lug off of FSB & Pin & Weld Faux Moderator from Brownells

Model 1 sales barrels were hit or miss on QC and accuracy, basically luck of the draw.

The Model 1 bolt always looked exactly like the Ciener bolt with .500 collar instead of chamber insert. JAC or someone in FL used to sell .500 collars on ebay. The TACCOM/Velocity 22 LR dedicated bolt was not compatible with the Better Mag Adapter and S&W 15-22 mags. TACCOM modified a few of his bolts to work with BMA but the mod wasnt always successful.

If I wanted to use a Model 1 Sales barrel Id get a .500 collar and use a CMMG bolt.

Barrel is too thin behind the FSB journal, IIRC, to move the FBF back.

I could just use the 16" pencil barrel I have now and have it cut down to 12.7" them pin/weld moderator

Journal must be reprofiled to 625 , My XM177E1 was done by cutting & reprofiling the CMMG / RTB M4 22 barrel ( Came out great ) ... The RTB Pencil Barrels have not been available for weeks (If not a month) Barrel should be roughly 11.5 or so (As the Breech is counted in OAL in 22lr ) so with Brownell's Faux Moderator & Grenade ring and Split Washer you get the correct length . AR15Sport Faux Moderator is longer than Brownell's version

I'm building an E2 and will follow your lead on the M4 donor barrel.

Nice pic!
