GSW KKW Trainer--Information

Log in to see fewer ads
I just purchased a BSW Suhl marked rifle with the KKW markings on the right side of the receiver. The right side of the barrel is marked 5.4 mm. It appears to have been sporterized as the stock looks nothing like the military ones I have seen on my Google searches. The left side of the barrel is also marked KAL 22 Lang Fur Buchsen. The serial # is 203,XXX.
I would like to know if the rifle will shoot 22 long rifle ammunition, and an approximate value.

Any information you may have about the rifle would be appreciated.

As sporterized KKWs go, that one is pretty nicely done, even if they did destroy a somewhat rare, collectible trainer. The stock looks like something that Flaigs, Sarco, etc. used to market for the K98 family of military rifles. The original sights have been replaced and I can't tell if the receiver has been D&T for scope mounts or not.

Yes, your rifle is chambered for standard 22 long rifle cartridges. Value is anyone's guess, and usually relative to current market trends/whims and regional demographics. At this point, it's just a shooter, and unless it's been drilled for scope mounts, the value will be that much lower.

If I owned that rifle in that condition, I would look into putting it in a Mauser 98K stock. Yes, definitely would take some bedding work, but it would make for a neat winter project and it would really look neat.

It's a BSW not GSW. It was a Jewish owned company that was taken over by the Natz's who changed the ownership to Gustlof. Top is a Gustlof KKW.
