Hi everyone, my lgs has a bl22 grade 1 that I would say is 95% or better.
They want 400 for it. My question is......is it worth it. 400 is what I paid for my marlin golden 39a, in my opinion seems like a better gun.thing it it would look good keeping my 39 company.I havenít seen many bl22 around these parts .

LGS had a new one for $500 a few weeks ago. It is a nice looking gun. At $400 I would probably buy it. You need to check the current price on that Marlin.

New BL-22's are going for around $600 if you can ever find one. You do not see them that often. I would buy it at that price and be glad that I found one.

Good luck, as you said they are not seen in your area either, that often so it may not be there when you go back. Just checked on GB, non of their prices are even close to $400

I purchased my 1979 BL-22, in the same 95%+ condition you describe, for $435 on Gunbroker two years ago. If I ran across another in that condition for $400 I wouldn't think twice about grabbing it.

Great Price! Go buy it. Youll be very happy. Unlike the Marlin, the BL 22 is light, quick to hand shoulder and eye. The short throw is magical.

Not just the short throw but one of my favorite things is they have the best Magazine tube system out of any 22 lever gun.

I feel better now. Just read this thread and me thinks I did good to grab a BL 22 Friday at my LGS, got it for $395+tax. I have been looking for a lever action 22lr for a few months and got a bit discouraged with the prices. Marlin 39's are going for north of $600 now and 9422's are around a $1000. Even the Winchester 250's I've seen are over $400. This was the first Browning I have seen in several years and its the first one I have actually been able to handle and work the action on. Boy is it smooth, and very short. I hardly have to move my hand to cycle it. Can't wait to get it out to the range.

HBoswell,
You don't even have to move your hand away from the stock or sight picture. Flick of the hand opening and closing and you are ready to fire another round.

By the way that was an excellent price you got on your BL-22. Congratulations.
