You don't see many for sale. I wonder what the reserve price is.

$602 and hasn't met reserve. Mangled buttplate, fuzzy pics, could have been presented much better. Might be interesting.

Star Grades are few and far between. I'd be willing to bet he's asking $750 or $1,000 as his minimum bid. It would appear to be a bit beat up, and well used. No sights, no hand stop, no butt plate spacers, and it looks used.

Still, some people will ask more than what a rifle is worth, and someone will pay it.

I don't think that I would go much higher and there is no guarantee that it will shoot better than the CMP guns. Just because it shot better one time doesn't mean that it is the perfect rifle.

I noticed that it is not U.S. marked also. Did Kimber keep all the star marked guns for themselves? Had heard of them, but this is the first I'd seen.

True! Usually the case of an unimformed buyer, someone that missed out when they were plentiful or someone who had one, sold it, got sellers regrett and is now willing to pay whatever to get another one. lastly, there's the guy that got caught up in a bidding war and just keeps bidding to win!

If the above examples only affected those individual buyers, then all would still be right w/ the world. The problem w/ all that is it does affect the rest of us!

A president is set, and a seller (that really knows better) thinks the next gun (w/o regard for condition) is now worth the 'sucker price'.

I recall a guy that had a rare, 1970 Dodge 340, 4-Speed Dart Swinger. He sold it, got sellers regret. The buyer moved away. The seller was running adds in auto classified pages running the serial # of the car, looking for it. You know he was willing to pay through the nose to get it back.

Ihave one bought as a 'rusty' but today it looks no different than a $600, non rusty. Rusty was a misnomer in 98+% of the guns.

I doubt it. A 'Star' 82G, in pristine condition with the sights, will probably go for a fair bit north of a thousand dollars. I could probably sell my two 'Rustys' with sights for $600+, especially the one I haven't done anything to. Depending on the buyer, the other one might go for more, or less. I could probably get $750-800 with the Mueller Target scope that is on there.

I guess I did really well when I bought my star marked 82G (civilian--- no US markings) for $400 out the door. It shoots amazingly well with Eley Tenex.
