Can someone tell me the pros and cons of the OEM magazines versus the ProMag magazines for the 702? There seems to be a subtantial price difference.

Since I believe that the magazine is 50% of any detachable box magazine fed gun, I prefer to buy the best but being a tight wad I don't like to spend money for something unnecessary either.

I can't speak about the ProMags,,,

I can't speak about the ProMags,,,
But when I bought my Plinkster from Wal Mart,,,
I also bought 4 extra mags (Mossberg brand) for $9.95 each.

That was 9 years ago,,,
This rifle gets shot quite a bit,,,
All of the mags have seen lots of use.

I've never experienced a problem with the Mossberg mags.

I have never had an issue with OEM mags.

I bought 4 Pro Mags because of price.

Had to rework all of them. Had to clean up follower, and reduce it's height. Had to shorten feed lips to get mags to seat properly and load a round properly. Still get occasional ejected casings trapped by new round feeding.

Even have problems with the OEM ones sometimes. I couldn't load 10 in mine without the first round jamming as it was feeding. 9, worked great. I disassembled the magazines and ran the follower over some fine sandpaper. Not sure how much I took off but it was enough that I was able to load 10.

And, the finish on the OEM magazines was terrible. The finish was all discolored and faded. Of course, contacting Mossberg Customer Disservice was a waste of time... "Oh, that's normal wear and tear"

Oh well... love the gun, goes bang every time.
