Kidd Return Spring Weight Selection

Question for the hive:

Building an all Kidd 6" barrel suppressed pistol for sub-sonic ammo only. Use the standard Kidd weight spring, or the lightweight spring?

I know, I know, just try it and see, right?

Pressure curve for that short of a Barrel and add the muffler I say use the Lightest to start with .. I read it 3 times and I think you are talking about the Charging Handle Assembly spring.. If so there are sooooooooo many variables depending on your ammo and others like lube/bolt weight/is the bolt rear radiused/elevation/temperature/star alignment/moon phase and on and on .. so.. ya try one and adjust from there.. I don't think anyone has the CORRECT answer for you.

Yessir, I was tired when I typed that. This will be built with all Tony's Toys. Kidd Bolt Handle Charging Assembly with Guide Rod and Springs. Kidd Bolt. Kid Receiver. Kidd Single Stage Trigger. It's the Guide Rod Springs I was asking about. I'm leaning towards the light spring. We shall see.

when different spring weights are available, I always go with the heaviest spring that will give me reliable functioning

From the source: "You will want to install the no color spring." This is the 10% lighter spring.

Do what cracked says.

Or start with standard spring. You will be fine. If the spring is to light you will get FTF. Just a click. Ive had the same setup.

Thank you for your email. You will want to install the no color spring. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,
Kidd Innovative Design"

Tony himself did not actually sign the response, however, I think this qualifies as "from the source".

Only have two of the Kidd return spring kits. The paint is just almost gone, and if I remember right........ correct me if I don't..........the heavy spring is obvious due to the thicker look, of the other two - the shorter one is the light spring and the longer one is the medium. I think this is right...... If I am wrong, let me know and I will delete / correct this post. .... AH

PS: Too many springs in my Parts Bag!

Would it be legal to create a pistol on a 10-22 action?
Short barrel threaded for a suppressor, on home made pistol grip stock, I doubt Uncle Sam would green light that project.

no, but you can build an SBR on a rifle action, and you can build a 6" suppressed pistol off of the Charger or an aftermarket receiver that has not been previously been built and/or registered as a rifle

You can tell which springs are which by how tightly they're coiled. The tightest one is the heaviest spring and the loosest one is the lightest.

I use the lightest (-10% I believe) in my 10" charger with a can and subs. Super smooth and 110% reliable.
