Pistol scope advice?

I want to put a scope on a contender G2 204 Ruger caliber. Will be hunting groundhogs with it. What scope power you suggest? What make and models you guys like? Any good buys out there? Thank

I actually use a 8-32x44 rifle scope on mine. I am a lot happier with the rifle scope on this pistol.

I use a Vortex Crossfire II Scout 2-7 x 32 on my 223. It took me 3 groups of 5 to find my drop. 16" drop on 300yrds when zeroed at 200. Yes, you can see the yellow dot at 300 with this scope. Load: Shooters World Blackout 19gr with Speer TNT 55gr.

I've been using a Simmons Gold Medal 2.5X7 on a 223 contender since the 90's without any trouble. Also have an old Burris 3X9 pistol scope on a 22-250 XP-100 that has held up well.

I prefer 2-7x pistol scopes on my T/Cs in longer range cartridges like 223. I have a bunch of TC scopes, don't think they offer them anymore.

Wade, what is the eye relief on your Scout 3-7x32? Need a scope for one of my Contenders, too.

I like the Leupold 2.5-8x and the older B&L Elite 22-6x scopes on mine. Some of my rimfire pistols have 6.5-20x rifle scopes on them.

Smile T/C Scope

I've had good luck with several Burris 2x-7x AO LER scopes. Used for silhouette competition and hunting squirrel to whitetail deer.

OldWolf, Sorry for the delayed response. (i was in RFC jail) My Vortex is at full view 7x at 14". I have a small halo at 16". For full view I drop back to 6x at for 16". 16 to 17 is full arm stretch for me. On the sand bag 12" is my optimum distance.

Well Weaver and Nikon are out of the market but really, calling ANYTHING 'NC Star' "best" is laughable.

To the OP, Leupold can sell scopes (for a lot of money comparatively) because a good scope is worth it. A poor scope is a real mess.

I like this set-up with a rifle scope, would try it if I ever wanted to get down low with mine.

Thing is, that site you linked to isn't a review site, it's whats called marketing. by writing a 'review' which is nothing more than a re hash of the companies description of the item and then profiting from the sale of said product you loose all credibility. Sorta like stealing an article from another forum (Ruger) and posting it here as your own.

Anyone can make a bad product, difference is Leupold will stand behind their product and has since day one. Can they chinese junk (that's a boat btw not a comment on chinese junk) say the same?
