Midwest Industries 10/22 Chassis Iron Sights

So I am looking into doing a tactical style Ruger 10/22 build since the Government of Canada has banned a lot of the other things I would be using in this category. What I would like to know is, does anyone have any experience with the Midwest Industries 10/22 Chassis. I am still deciding between the 8" or 13". I would like to mount back up iron sights on the rifle. I was hoping a small piece of picatinny rail on the front of the rail could be used to mount a front sights, and I could get a rail for the receiver and use that for a backup rear sight and red dot. Does anyone have any knowledge if this will work or not?

Below are picture of the two chassis from the MI website

I have one but haven't done anything with it yet. It looks like you could add a top rail and the two would line up pretty good. Might have to try it and see.

If you like a lil precision shooting go w the longer barrel. If not folding stock and a back and binary trigger I see in your future 😎

Your idea should work... you might need a taller (VQ or Weigand) rear rail to match height with the front.

Mine is the 8", used with a Charger

I have the their 8" forend and chassis on my takedown. I like it a lot, great snug fit and very compact which I think a TD should be. I do not run backup irons on this setup as it is too short. For that I have a T-22 which is unfortunately discontinued. That chassis has a giant top rail, that would give a 19" sight radius as compared to the 11" sight radius the midwest 8" forend would give.

Realizing I'm chiming in a bit late since the original post, I would definitely look for something with a long forend and if possible a continuous rail. Kind of like a monolithic style AR chassis or an M4 flat top type deal. The number of options in aluminum are kind of sparse.

I run iron sights on my RPRF, I mounted the front sight directly to the barrel.
