SA-22 Browning base screw

What is the proper setting of this screw and purpose? To keep the rear of the Browning base from contacting the top of the receiver?

That, and to stabilize, I think.
I would probably set it to where you could slide a dollar bill under it.

After a little bit of experimenting based upon group sizes, I decided that I don't want the screw touching, but just close to the receiver like Camster suggested. I'm not sure what the intent of the screw was by the designer, but that's how I want to run mine.

Possibly the screw is meant to prevent the rear of the base from being bent down by an unexpected blow or from being dropped.

I have a Marlin 39 Mountie with a receiver sight. I installed a screw in the top of the receiver and set it so that it almost touches the bottom of the receiver sight arm. This makes the rear sight as bullet proof as possible.
