Who makes the best wooden stock for 22lr benchrest?

For what type of rifle? Also stocks have more to do with preference than anything else. Some guys like varmint style stocks, some like chassis, At One, etc, etc, etc. Different stocks are going to feel different to different people. I personally like a pro varmint style stock for BR shooting but even those have several different variations. As far as wooden stocks Tony Melee makes some of the best BR stocks I have ever used. But most of his stocks are only made for the 10/22 platform so it really depends on what rifle your using.

I have one of Randy's low profile Spectraply stocks. I like it ok but it was disappointed in it being considerably heavier than the estimate he gave me. Not a big deal for UL shooters, however I shoot a 10.5 class & a .900 barrel the length I wanted wasn't going to happen. Had to go to an .850 & a Leupold BR to make weight.
I've recently ordered a mahogany stock from a gentleman in RI to try. I prefer the looks of traditional wood. I'll post how it works out when I get it.

There are a lot ways to answer this question, and I think if you give the forum a little bit more info about what you are looking for, you'd get a lot more back. For instance:

10/22? Look at what Joe Chacon can do with a BR action for his ABRA competitions.
Anschutz or Cooper? Look to Canyon Creek for the most elegant and expensive figured wood you'd ever want to hand down to your grand kids. Definitely
"best," but I have to wait to win the lottery to afford one.
Best Value for the Money? Try Boyd's. It's a laminate and not the "best" BR stock in the technical sense, but you probably can't do better for the price.
Best Winchester 52 repro stock?
Best Kimber stock?
Best custom stock maker?

If you start by describing your action and then letting us know whether you're looking for a custom woodworker or a mass produced product, I bet there are folks here who will chime in in a heartbeat.

There is no "best" for everyone. It's like asking what's the best automobile, truck, brand of canned peaches, and so on. People's opinions differ and that makes your choice of "best" only the best for you and plenty of people will disagree with you.

Don Stith has been making top of the line competitive benchrest stocks for many, many years and he is an extremely nice man in general. I have several and will keep getting them going forward for as long as he makes them.

Jim Peightal makes an excellent stock. ask Jim and he will tell you no one is better than Alex Sitman of masterclass stocks. no one on this planet has the knowledge or experience like Carl and Alex. imop the stock on the far right is the best design for benchrest stocks.
