Question Marlin 60 SS Pricing ??

Log in to see fewer ads
It appears that this M60SS (new) sells on-line in the $229-$289 range (laminate stock).

While buying ammo at WM today, they had this model at $179.00 (with a cheap scope). I believe it was also a hardwood stock.

Looking to buy one but hard for me to comprehend how a brick and mortar store (even a behemoth like Wally) can so significantly beat online sellers.

Makes me wonder if the lower cost rifle is something less than the higher priced online units.

Thoughts?

I don't buy anything of consequence at WM as I consider them little more that a Chinese 2nd outlet. Having said that I don't suspect their guns are any different than what you would normally get. My first choice would always be elsewhere except in the case of an incredible deal, such as this.

I remember when I had an ffl back in the nineties I couldn't get a 10/22 or Remington 870 Express from a distributer for less money than Kmart or Woolworths sold them at retail. Manufacturers make good deals available on their popular mass market guns to a big customer. Those stores then can offer the lowest prices. Customer traffic is the goal. A little profit on a lot of people.

Thumbs up mdl 60SB at wal mart hardwood stock

mine was 197.00 about 6 months ago, 179.00 is an excellent price, just throw the scope in the trash and get a good one ! I think this is an excellent buy and it is the same one you can pay more for elsewhere. mine was accurate and dependable out of the box, I broke it in on mini mags but it likes any HV LR now. good looking rifle too. I am 100% satisfied with mine.

it is the same thing you will pay more for other places. I have a feeling that WM probably bought many thousand of them to offer this low price.
