I like the old Weavers, especially if they are Litschert boosted.

litscherts by Daniel Fischer, on Flickr

I collect scopes so I have had a bunch of other scopes by other makers, some good and some not so good. Most of my Mossberg rimfires usually end up with a Weaver sporting a Litschert booster on the end of it.

Check my other post on RFC for other "unique" scopes on some of my Mossbergs.

Here's an old B&L Balvar 8 2.5-8x with tapered crosshairs in the FFP. Great glass, I shot it in an Egg Shoot last month, chicken eggs at 150 yards off of shooting sticks and made it to the final round, the scope didn't cause me to miss the last egg.

I then took it hunting and it is just as good there. The glass is very clear and it is pretty much bomb proof. I have it mounted in a Leupold windage adjustable base and shim for elevation.

Don't forget the Remington Bench Rest. I forgot I've got one of those too.

Another update on a gun show find. Weaver V9 AO 3 x 9 from the mid to late 1960's. Great shape and good price. I am going to try and find a vintage 22 and give it a home. The AO adjustment goes down to 50 FEET and out to 1000 yards. IMO a great rimfire scope.

I have an old Redfield 3-9x scope that came off my grandpa's rifle years ago. I can't find any serial numbers or model numbers on it....Only thing i see is Redfield, 3-9x and the location of Redfield in Co.

Where can I find info on how to find the model/type and stuff to date this unknown Redfield?

Thanks!

Stopped by a LGS today to look around. Found a Weaver K3-1 with the Dual X reticle. The only problem it was mounted on a Rem. Model 760 30/06. This scope model was made from 1973 to 1977. In great shape, no rust or blueing wear at all and real clear optics. I asked the owner if he would sell me just the scope. He said I don't normally do that but what would I be willing to give him for it. I said $50. He thought for a moment and finally said OK! It came with the original Weaver Rings with the large thumb screw too and they look brand new! Good find on this one. Need something to put it on now!
