That Duster was part of the perimeter security at Phu Bai combat base. It normally stayed in a revetment but on the day I took the pictures I was in the back of a deuce-and-a-half that got stuck in the mud. The Duster came over and pushed us out. Got some photos somewhere of it working out at night after a rocket attack.

Gift from a friend

Given to me about 15 years ago when a friend converted to digital. I had high hopes for the camera, had all the light seals replaced, added a case, then I went digital and this one has just been stored. Guess i need to make it into table art.

Pretty fancy setup Eagle

I've been going for the pre-war cameras as space and time permits.

I need more shelves... (was warned about this )

Nikon F3. Smoothest manual film advance in all of camera-dom. Bam! Take that Leica.

Very nice indeed! I have a serious love of cameras made in Dresden and its surrounds (particularly Merkel cameras).

Here are a couple of contemporaries to your Korelle. On the left is the Zeiss Ikon Ikonta 520/18 (the "Baby Ikonta"). It was manufactured in 1932 in Dresden just like your Korelle.

On the right is a Merkel Metharette from 1931. Merkel was based in Tharandt near Dresden. Ferdinand Merkel is my favorite manufacturer. I actually have a handwritten letter he wrote to the German draft board in 1917 trying to save his shop foreman from going into the military. Not sure if the foreman did serve in the military but I do know he ended up working for another Dresden-area camera manufacturer in the 1930s so he survived WWI, if he did serve.

A good looking pair of Dresden cameras Ed

Now I'm assembling shelves to put my new-to-me cameras on... (I was warned!)

I've decided I need an Exakta. Pre-war would be nice, though I'm not picky.

Time for a 2nd latte and lunch
