Got one, short throw, it’s a fun gun to shoot. I bought mine at an auction about 35 years ago. Turned out that it had a rough or damaged chamber and would not extract a fired cartridge. I set back the barrel and rechambered and all is well. It’s one that I will pass on to a grandchild.
No, I have never owned one, but I do remember when they were available in this caliber.:bthumb: I had forgotten all about them until seeing this thread.
Yep, Ive got one but need some parts to get it up to snuff. The floor-plate on mine is broken on one side and one of the screws holding it in place isn't original. Also need sling swivels and hood for front sight to bring it back to it's former glory.
I tried a well known Marlin parts supplier, and he was unable to locate a floor-late for me. I'd love to show you pics of the wood on this one, but I've given up trying to get Imgur to work for me.
If anyone has information for me on where or how I might procure another floorplate, I'd love to get that information
Thanks, John
I saw one at a gun show recently and looked to be in nice shape. If I remember right,(and I probably don't) around $400 was the asking price. I am thinking I should have bought it even if that was too much, as they are cool rifles you don't see often.
One of my extended family relatives had one of those some years back. It was used as a deer poacher, the round not generating much noise. Not for trophy horns, for meat for his family (not that it is an excuse for poaching). He used it for some years before he was caught and had it confiscated by Texas Parks & Wildlife. It was an expensive lesson to learn.
