I went to a gun shop yesterday. He just got this '69 golden in. I payed $450 which I feel is enough if not slightly high for it's condition. The honesty of the rifle and its wear spoke to me. The white line spacer was missing from the but stock.... which I don't care. i don't like the white anyway really. It shoots fantastic. I am in love.
I like guns like that I can carry in the woods without worry. I made a spacer out of a couple layers of white birch bark. It's more tan than white and I think looks good. Easy to cut, shape and sand down. I did it because the replacement buttplate was just a little off of the stock shape so the spacer matched up the edges.
Years ago I made a white spacer out of a 5gal white plastic bucket, don't remember if I used the bottom or the lid. Turned out real nice and was the same thickness of the original spacer.
