Picked up one that I have been looking for for a while, its easy to find a 57M, I have found it more challenging to find a nice 57 at a reasonable price. This one is in great shape for its age, they manufactured these from 1959 to 1965.
The pair pictured are my 57M 22 Mag and the 57 22lr, the bottom pic is all three of my Levermatics and includes a 1955 Model 56 22lr
These short stroke lever action guns are really fun to shoot and extremely accurate. Now I am on the hunt for the two Center fire Model 62's
Nice pair. I have a 56 with the steel receiver I like a lot. It has a 4x Marlin Micro-vue scope on it that came with it. I saw a 62 in 30 carbine last year at a gun show, probably should have bought it.
Good looking collection of levermatics, Big Dog.:t I have a 57M, nowhere near the condition of yours. Congratulations of your find, and good luck finding the centerfires.
Very nice rifles. They all look to be in exellent condition. A 57 M was my gateway drug into the world of Levermatics. It is still my favorite, but now has company with a 57 in .22 LR and 62's in 256 Win mag and 30 carbine.
For the most part I just clean the barrel and swab out inside the receiver. One of them I did a complete tear down and cleaned and lubed it, cant remember if it was the 56 or 57M. I had read some horror stories about people opening them up and finding hard gunky oil/grease inside the mechanics. The one I opened up was not bad at all. If I start have any issues with one then I will give it the once over. If you need some tear down pictures and instructions, let me know I saved them from this site before photobucket when rogue on us. Just PM me with your email address
Thank you,, I did find the pictures to dis assemble,,,,, so my question was sort dumb.
So I’ll. Just take it apart far enough to get to clean surfaces, and go from there.
Howdy to all, i was looking at my local pawnshop and found a relevation 115
22lr levermatic rifle in good shape.
made from 1959-1965
I had seen some youtube video's on the model 57, looked like a levermatic that
i would like to buy! So i brought it for $200.00
NAA SILENT member had post the disassembly of the 57 and i download
the post, hope i can get it apart and put back together again.
I'm not at home yet, at friend's house.
Will post picture when i got the time.. HAPPY CAMPER. :bthumb:
Congrats on the purchase of the 57M, you will love shooting it, you should find it to be quite accurate for a 22 Mag. Yeah, I am on the prowl for the Model 62 and you are right they are not cheap. I am still hoping to run across the right deal
