CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1..long name

for a pistol, but this is nice hunk of 9mm pistol, had been looking for a while but they're scarce around here. Test target was three rounds within and inch of the aiming point at 25 meters with Sellier and Belliot 115 gr. Came with two 20 round magazines and I bought the only two extras they had in stock. Just barely over $1K out the door.

Heat was oppressive so just some indoor photos for now, the son and I need to get together and do a comparison with the Copperhead and the Scorpion.

OD is the color, 20 and 32 round mags are available.

nice...i bet you like it. easy to shoot, easy to clean, built like a tank.

grip angle and safety lever are terrible...take a look at copper customs and hb industries for some goodies

Two common complaints for sure, grips are pretty cheap, looking at the SBT Evo brace as well.

That is a wicked looking piece of machinery Gerald! Glad to see you're getting back into the swing of things con mucho gusto

I don't think I need one but looking forward to your range report.

Gerald, if you put a brace on that thing, it just may be the most fun gun you'll ever own. Congratulations on a great choice.

I opted for the less expensive Slovakian Stribog that has proven to be reliable, accurate and more fun than any other gun I own. It too is built like a tank. I put a Sig Romeo 5 red dot on it and sighted it for zero at 50 yards. The Sig RD has a motion sensor that turns it on if it detects any movement; a great feature. (In the picture below it's seen with a Vortex red dot that I replaced with the Sig. It also had a 10 round mag in it when I took the picture. It came with 3, 30 round mags)

The CZ Scorpion is likely to become one of your favorite guns to shoot... if not the most favorite.

I've heard a lot of good comments on the Stribog but never seen one locally, my son and I split a Sig Copperhead a few months ago, I'd tried to get him to wait on a Scorpion S1 or Micro.

It's fun but personally the extra money just isn't worth it, plus it's not threaded for a can, "but Dad it's cool and its a Sig" lol.

Nice looking Sig and I'll bet it's fun to shoot. What is the barrel length? It looks a bit short. The Stribog is 8 inches.

I understand about your son. Mine are the same way. They have their own ideas about what is "cool" and it's not always what we like. LOL

Copperhead is 4.5 inches, it's well built and fun to shoot but you can buy a lot of 9mm for $500, they're use to instant gratification. I guess is a lot of ways I am too.

I've been considering something like this myself but have little knowledge or experience with them.
Between the Evo and the Copperhead, which do you prefer?
Thanks for your help.

I really like mine! Had to fix the grip, trigger and safety issues with parts from HB and Pakse. New Pakse forend too, SIG red dot and Streamlight ProTac in a Thorntail mount. Mag is the 35rd from PSA and I've got an SB brace on the way to replace the Shockwave.

The Copperhead is fun but the Scorpion handles better to me at least, we'll do a head to head eventually but the Son lives 130 miles away and what with Covid and my recent Surgery it's going to be a while.

As CraigC's post shows there are good many upgrade parts out there for the Scorpion.

one thing i ran into as far as running a brace is concerned...

mine came with the folding sbtrevo brace from sb tactical. i switched to the sba3 with a standard tube. in the new config, i am really really close to the max length for the lop rule with the brace fully extended...the scorpion tube adapter is just a bit thicker than the folding adapter the scorpion came with

Ive had a Scorpion Carbine for about four years. Man, that thing is super reliable.

I was one of the beta testers for the Pakse Pathfinder grip, it is a huge step up from the factory grip. Very smart design. There are other good grips, too. Really, any of the aftermarket grips will be a big improvement over the factory grips.

Okay, upgrade no. 1, folding brace and grip, I like the way it handles better now.

The Romeo 5 showed up today, mounted using the lower style base it looks to line up well with the factory irons, sweet. Now to get out to the range.
