That's what I thought, maybe the $100 scope is filled with a few ounces of gold.

I emailed him yesterday about this rifle and his answers were pretty evasive. I asked if this was an original sporter, since it was missing several pieces the originals would have- front ramp sight, rear 48F receiver sight, and several other items I noticed. I also asked if it was a 52B, C, or D model.

His response was this was an early rifle without a letter prefix. I would have to assume from that answer that it is a Pre A model? So, given that response I would have to also assume this isn't an original Sporter.

Bob,

In his description he says it's SN# 10NR802072, it's a 52R.

Guess I missed that, or it wasn't there when I looked at it a few days ago. Thanks for that info.

A seller looking for a sucker?

Nice wood...poor pictures.

If he finds a buyer at that price, someone is going to be very disappointed when they figure out what they DON"T have.

On the other hand, if that's the going price on the 52R now, I will soon have one for sale!

If it is a reproduction the seller is guilty of attempted fraud now. If he sells it he will also be a thief by misrepresentation.

Well, there's no law about ASKING price that I'm aware of. Anyone who would pay that for a 52R without verifying that is not an original Sporter, probably deserves to won it

But I would hope that either:
1. no one gives this auction a second glance, or
2. the seller realizes that he put in one too many zeros and changes the price

The auction ended today. The opening price was 1000.00 when closed not the previous 4000.00.
The seller must have read this forum postings. LOL
