Yeah, I've had that rifle on my watch list for several cycles. A very nice 52, but, wow!

I missed that one, what was so special about it? GB will not let you search for completed auctions.

They will if you do an advanced search and if you have a password.

Typical case of an auction bringing out too much testosterone among a pair of stubborn bidders. Reason (and market value) goes right out the window. I can not imagine any circumstances that would lead me to spend that amount on that rifle. It's a rifle I would have walked away from at $700.

Well, it DOES look unfired

but the best part, I think, is that someone could have had it for $1300+ with the Buy It Now

Doesn't the buy it now option cancel after the 1st bid is placed?

That, or when the reserve is reached. Still, someone could have had it for that price if they had only been there first and recognized what a deal it was. . .

I sold a Browning 52 for $1500 but it had a Leupold Alaskan scope with Browning rings and bases. Those alone will bring $500 on Ebay. I have a Winchester 52R set up the same way.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is a 52R?

Thanks

Of course both the Browning and Winchester Mirokus are copies of the original 52. It has become customary to refer to the Winchester marked version as a 52R (repro). I believe deceased member Kixonrt66 was a big proponent of calling them that.

Works for me.
