but, I do like the 19" in full length stocks...the 17" can look a bit stubby in stocks with longer forends, but look great in something smaller like the Compact or a Carbine that has had the barrel band area shortened
I just might try shortening the carbine stock I have. It’s new, never been used so if I do manage to screw it up it’s not a great loss. I changed it out to the ATI folder for my granddaughter because of the adjustable butt stock. She now has one of the Talo Tiger editions I got for her birthday a couple of years ago so the carbine came back to me..

If you sand out the channel enough , you might be able to use the barrel band. But try the Target stock first, these are fat barrels, and will look good in a 920 channel.

And gcrank, are you calling my 17 s Stubby looking?

I’ve had 4-5 of each through my stable over the years. All were decent shooters at the price point, and I’ve had one exceptional shooter in both 17” & 19”.

It’s all luck of the draw, so go with what fits your stock/taste!

Have fun with it-

Well, the green mountain barrel came today and a quick dry test fit in the Kingston Armory receivers looks very good. Barrel slid in to within <1/8” of being seated. Unfortunately it will be tomorrow before I will have time to put it all together. I think I will drill the cleaning hole in the back of the receiver before I assemble them. I will make pics as I assemble this and post them later.

I got it put together this morning. Made a couple of pics.
So what do you think? Add a new pic, changed to the Ruger T stock. I think I like it better than the Altamont thumbhole.

If it hadn’t started raining here this afternoon I would have shot it today. It went together pretty easily, got the barrel seated in the receiver with just a couple of thumps on the top of my work bench (much like the Kidd video). Bolt, trigger group, etc. all went in easily.
The T stock is my favorite, the forearm on it is about an inch shorter than the thumbhole so the barrel looks less “stubby “. I just hope it shoots as good as it looks!

It should shoot great. Mine likes Norma , which I believe is rebranded RWS. 5 shots 50 yards. The orange/ pink ones weren’t mine.1 inch sticky.

+1

in the parts bin waiting for me to finish some 80% receivers for them, I've got three or four of the T's that I picked up from CPW's last stock blowout

my nephew has claimed the last one I did..'cause ya' know, it does have his scope in it

I managed to get out in my backyard and put some rounds thru it this afternoon. I wasn’t really trying to shoot tiny groups, just breaking everything in. I started with CCI mini mags, 10 rounds then clean the barrel. After 50 rounds, groups were around 1”-1 1/4” at 50 yards. I switched to CCI standard velocity and after another 30 rounds the groups tightened up to 3/4 to 1” at 50 yards. Overall I’m pretty happy with this build. I think with more shooting and playing with some pressure pads I can get the groups even smaller. I need a better shooting set up. Using a Caldwell field pod and a small folding seat and it’s not stable enough for really precise shooting.

Anyhoo, I think this build has lots of potential!
