Single shot in 17 WSM

Iím a single shot kind of guy and Iíve been reading about the available 17 WSM rifles or maybe the lack of 17 WSM rifles on here and just had a thought. I wonder if Henry would consider bringing out one of their fine single shots in 17 WSM? Henry seems to be pretty open to trying new things and it wouldnít take very much to adapt their rifle to this round. Anybody else got any comments?

Yep Sieg, thatís a little rich for my blood! I was hoping for a $450ish or below. My Henry Single Shot in .223 is a great rifle for the price. A 17WSM would be real sexy!

If you have a TC Contender or Encore, just buy a barrel. MGM sells really good barrels for the price range you're looking at. No adapter kit required with their rim fire barrels either.

One of our other members had some dealings with a contender barrel and Iím not sure how that turned out. The barrel maker had to offset the chamber so the firing pin would hit the larger rim on the WSM cartridge. The last I heard they were still trying to get it right.

I think Gerald mentioned MGM got his .17 WMR barrel right the second time around but hasn't had the time to really wring it out.

I'm surprised Ruger hasn't produced a No.1 in .17 WSM yet, although a No. 1 won't be cheap either.

I went on Henryís website and put in a request for them to consider a 17WSM in their single shot line. Hopefully Anthony will read it, realize itís a great idea and get right on that!

I have seen some people have converted the H&R rimfire actions to 17wsm, but those started out as rimfires. Not sure how difficult it would be for Henry to set this up. I keep thinking there will be more manufacturers jump on the 17wsm.

I have an original G1 Contender frame with a Carbine barrel from MGM on it. It was one of the first ones made by MGM. It is very accurate and functions perfectly. It is the best option right now for a single-shot, that isn't too pricey. Also, the folks at Haus of Guns have a bunch of affordable stock options, if you want to upgrade that part of your T/C.

If you look at this forum.....17 WSM.....at the oldest thread, you will see me asking about anyone doing a 17 WSM on a No.1. No responses, kinda a Rodney thing I thought.

Now I see some interest in such an article, perhaps someday Ruger will make one on their regular No.1 chassis. I cannot talk either, I still have the reamer and parts gathering dust, life gets in the way I reckon.

Modification of their existing design with a supported chamber is pretty straight forward, if I can do it, then a modern outfit should be a flip of the wrist other than the usual bean counter activities to overcome.

I have a pair of 22lr No.1's that I have shot for many years now. One even has some 17 rimfire barrels. So the WSM should be quite doable............just gotta get the focus on such and do it.........me too.

I bought several boxes of ammo over the years trying to make a little stash, so really no real obstacles in the 17 WSM No.1 attempt, other than unforseen issues..........kinda in the middle of a 22 Lowenstein for a Luger now, but maybe this is the year of a new 17wsm for me on a no.1 chassis.............

Hopefully someone will take the hint, and do one; whether a big outfit or the guy in the garage down the street, and post it here; my first posting in 2013 still awaits.

I have a #1 International in .243. I'd buy a rimfire as soon as available.
