The X models also had the sights similar to the nylon series rifles. Not sure if they were exactly the same sight or not. I always disliked the shark fin style front. Very expensive sights if you need a set. Yes they did have the slimmer barrel profile on the X. Made a very light squirrel rifle. My X Remington's would be the last to leave my place.
All 511-X and the 512-X had grooved receivers. Remington started grooved receivers on the regular 511 and 512 models around late 1954, early 1955. The 510-X was the only single shot model that had grooved receivers.
