After I sanded the stock of my 1264 Mannlicher, I tried the cap and no way, no how, was that puppy gonna fit as is. So I started to sand the under side of the stock a little at a time until it fit nicely.

I think that looks great, and was what I was referring to. The HT barrels are a bit bigger at the muzzel, so probably more sanding.

ohh god no, I really dislike the mannlichers with the barrels extending out beyond the stock more than the factory intended

if anything, I'll use a 17" HT, chop the stock back and open the cap up a bit to fit
