dmr,
You sound like me. I went through this same struggle. I just ordered the 22 short in Walnut. Like you, I don't have a dedicated 22 short so that's what made me decide to go that way. I also thought about the Maple, but my luck I would get a very plain one and be disappointed. So I went with Walnut. I like blue and walnut guns.

I LOVE 22 lever guns and have a few, but no Brownings. Some day I will buy a BL22. But I worry that one of these days they will stop offering the SA-22 short only, so I decided now was the time to get one (for me)

I too wanted the sa22 short.
Was worries that I'd never find one.
Yes bought the Walnut.
Also bought the L.R. Version.

I have zero regrets.

You won't either.

Thanks for the feedback guys, and congrats on your new Brownings... I think that's the route I'm going to take, as well. Hard to beat walnut and blue...

What are your thoughts on potential re-sale value of maple vs. walnut and of the .22 short in general...?
