Original muzzle loading and certain cartridge firing firearms (rifles and pistols) can be acquired without need for a firearms certificate, if they are to be owned for curio or collecting purposes.

The cartridge firearms would need to be in one of the 'obsolete calibres' of which there is an official list of cartridges that are considered obsolete.

Should you wish to shoot them (excluding any antique cartridge pistols) you would need to have them on a firearms certificate.

Modern reproduction muzzle loaders are considered in the same manner as normal firearms and require licensing to own.
