Help! Scope bases, Savage 64 Takedown?

Log in to see fewer ads
Does anyone know what scope bases (preferably a 2-piece system) fit the Savage 64 Takedown model? I'm having a devil of a time finding any information on the proper base and I don't want to order them 15 different ones and have to return them if possible. I don't really care whether they're steel or aluminum. I just want the proper weaver/picatinny style bases to mount a scope with quick detach rings.

The receiver on the Takedown is rounded, and not grooved like the non-takedown model. Mounting holes are the same distance apart on both ends.

Thanks!

Weaver #16 should fit it for round top receiver, you will need 2 of them as they are sold individual.

Thanks Nerostarr, hope you're right because I'm likely ordering a couple. I finally found a great Weaver chart that does list the 64 along with the 93R17 though and I have one of the latter so I'm going to measure the distance between screws there before ordering.

https://media.mwstatic.com/productdo...unts_chart.pdf

Frustrating; every chart or website I look at has the "thickness" of the base listed in thousands, but never the distance between screws! And on the chart I linked, I missed the 64 twice before checking it again.

Appreciate the help!

Take your rifle into your LGS and get them to assist you. Maybe they will have the bases in stock and will probably have the rings also. May cost a few $ extra, but then, you are supporting your local LGS and that's a good thing

Jackkade, thanks, it’s a nice thought but asking for help for a mount I couldn’t find information on does not bear on the fact that I’ve mounted dozens of scopes successfully and accurately. Further, I can’t even tell you how far I’d have to drive for a competent gunsmith. There are none within more than an hour to my knowledge. Amazon will have the bases here on Tuesday for $3.99/base. Even if one was around, a gunsmith would likely take weeks and cost many multiples of that. I wouldn’t review a chamber but I can mount a scope.

And I know you said LGS, but there are none in the area that I’d trust for a scope mount. Too many friends who made that mistake.

I had to make my own. .505 between front two holes and same between rear two holes. 3.345 between the middle holes. EGW Guns makes one with picatinny but pricey at $39.99. Hope this helps...

As a follow up, the Weaver #16 fit perfect and anchor Warne QD medium rings perfectly. Thanks to those who helped.
