Sorry, but I couldn't wait to post this one...

Our monthly air rifle match. Wind was a very switchy 15+ MPH but great temps in the upper 60's.

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettable, yards
Date: 3-1-20

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz 2002 SuperAir
JSB Diablo Exact RS (7.33) pellets
Sightron BigSky @ 24X

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 10 (woot!)
Turkeys - 3 (ugh)
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 27

My short game saved me on this one.

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
JSB Exact Heavy Diablo (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 31

Had to work hard to get a score in the 30's so I'm happy.

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: AAA
Air Arms HFT 500
Weaver T-24
JSB Exact Heavy Diablo (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 10
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 10
TOTAL - 38 (!!!)

Started on Rams and ran 34 hits before I missed the fifth Turkey on the first bank then missed #3 on the second bank. A score of 38 blows away my previous all-time high score of 35. I guess my lucky charm today was bringing my first Grand Slam pin that came in the mail just a couple of days ago.

Time for a celebratory beer!

Thanks for posting up this months matches. I was busy last night. (Party )

Incredible score of 38. Very nice, Allen. Especially in 15 mph wind.

Way.......to........go. Congrats.

Club match at the range 1.5 hours east of Houston since I'll be in Baton Rouge for the Shamrock Silhouette Shootout next weekend.

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~30X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 3-7-20
Class: AAA

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 32

Two more Pigs to get me to a Master Score would have been really nice but I'll take it.

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 10 (woot!)
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 29

Again with the Pigs! What's up with that?!? Glad I cleaned the Chickens to make up some ground. A 29 is still above average for me and factoring in the fact that I haven't shot any smallbore in a month I'm very happy overall.

As I mentioned earlier, next weekend is the Shamrock Silhouette Shootout, the second big air rifle regional of the year, except this time it's outdoors. After that the smallbore gets kicked into high gear.

My scores from the Shamrock Silhouette Shootout (outdoor air rifle regional). 60-shot matches so I've added the 40-shot conversion after the totals.

Match #1, NRA Air Rifle resettable, yards
Date: March 14 and 15, 2020

Match #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz 2002 SuperAir
JSB Diablo Exact RS (7.33) pellets
Sightron BigSky @ 24X

Chickens - 10
Pigs - 14
Turkeys - 9
Rams - 12
TOTAL - 45 (30)

Pretty good score for me in Target rifle. Got 2nd place in AAA.

Match #2, Open Rifle:
Class: AAA
Air Arms HFT 500
Weaver T-24
JSB Exact Heavy Diablo (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 11
Pigs - 14
Turkeys - 11
Rams - 11
TOTAL - 47 (31.3)

Not nearly as good as the 38 earlier this month but it got me 2nd place again.

Match #3, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
JSB Exact Heavy Diablo (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 11
Pigs - 14
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 9
TOTAL - 41 (27.3)

Rather disappointed at my Turkey and Ram scores today, although the fact that my friend who is a solid Master shooter also shot only 7 Turkeys gives a little bit of solace (it wasn't just me having a bit of a meltdown).

Thankful for Dustin Flint and the rest of the Louisiana Silhouette team that put on this great match every year.

Air rifle practice with the guys. I only grabbed my Open air rifle this morning so I have two scores using the same rifle.

Wind was kind of crazy flip-flopping between 9:00, straight out, and 2:00. I was surprised I was able to get as many Turkeys and Rams as I did.

My club's ranges are shut down here in Houston and I'm guessing there are a bunch of us around the country having a hard time finding a place to shoot.

Luckily for me there's a golf driving range that's just a few blocks away from my house. I talked to the managers and they gave me permission to shoot air rifles down at the far end of the property.

I only have a cheap set of swingers and I took my Open air rifle out there this morning.

Not much wind this morning, which was nice. I managed to beat up the Chicken swinger pretty good so I'll need to buy or make a replacement real soon.
