Question New Federal 22 magnum 50gr

Log in to see fewer ads
Hey has anybody shot any of this new Federal 50gr 22 mag?

I recently picked some up from Sportsman's Warehouse for $49 for 250 rds.
Wanted to try the heavier bullet out of my 77/22 and see how consistent it is.
Might not be a bad pistol round either.

It's not new. It is the same #757 load that they make. It's just in bulk form and in a bottle for marketing. BTW, my Marlin shoots the 50gr's very good.

Here we are thinking 20 cents a round is a good price when 9mm is cheaper. 22 mag should not be more than 10-12 cents a round.

.17/r. at Midway and backordered.

Why cheaper this way? Is there a lower QC on the bulk ammunition than what is boxed?

With a rifle in 9mm probably quite a few. There are a lot of 9mm rifles available now and you pick up 150 fps in the long barrel. I might have to try a scope on my PC9 and see what it does at 100 yards just for grins.
I have 2 22mag rifles and a pistol so I do shoot them but the cost still gets to me. They should not be that high. I also picked up some of those 50 gr Feds but have not tried them yet.

9MM Coyotes

Try a PC9 with a TRS25 Red Dot .
Plenty accurate for a Coyote at 100 , and similar in co$t per round .

Less packaging and processing would equal less cost for one thing. I've experienced enough failures with bulk ammo that I don't buy it any longer. When the same ammo boxed exhibits almost zero failures it does make me think the quality control is not as good on bulk.

I have shot the Federal 50GR 22Mag ammo in my 1885, great stuff! I am going to the club tomorrow will try it in myCZ452FS 22Mag and T/C G2 MGM22Mag. I like to try a variety of ammo in my firearms, never know when the perfect one happens along!

I have a Vortex Venom on the PC9 mounted where the rear sight was. There is an XS low mount ghost ring on the pic rail. Still have room for a scope with quick release rings. I can get hardball for 16-18 cents a round and reload HP for about 20 cents. When they had the rebates going I picked up 1k 9mm hardball for 12 cents a round.

Been using it since the 90's and it shoots well out of all of my 22Mags:

BRNO ZKM611 Auto
CZ 552 Varmint
Ruger American Predator

50g

Its my favorite lately. My NAA mini revolver requires it. ruger 96M, MR 1722, and heritage rough rider all like it. Its about $12 box of 50 around here in South Dakota. even better than 30 grain or 40.
