What Should I Offer for an Unfired MK1 Target T-512

Log in to see fewer ads
An individual wants to sell me his 1980 unfired MK1 T-512 5 1/2" bull barrel. It comes with 4 of the older vintage style mags and the box, but the box doesn't have the T-512 label; it must have fallen off. I want to buy it but I just don't know what to offer him.

Thoughts on what it's worth and what I should offer him?

Thank you everyone!

I doubt a label fell off.

here is one 99%, 2 magazines $300 I guess this is the low end. Good place to make an offer at. You have some room if he like to haggle. Say 350 all in? That is a guess. I am not a dealer or collector.

Here is one for $550, nice grips, no warning, mint. Maybe special case here. You have a warning. An example of something a collector might pay a premium on. I dont see that for 1980.

Cash to a friend or club member is a less worry, time and expense than listing on line. Legit FFL involvement, auction fees and extra caution with all these communist states with nutty rules.

I would say that $300 in the condition you describe & inc the box is a very good price. I looked at one a short while ago at the Cabelas near me here in Pa. only it was the T 678 ..the Target model not the bull barrel model you have pictured . It was in near perfect condition & included the box & owners manual for $299 . An excellent price I thought as did someone else because when I stopped in there again a few weeks later it was gone.

I picked up one (MkI, 5.5 bull, blued) recently with one mag, original box, excellent, but not pristine condition. $275.

I think you are in the ballpark since it has 4 mags.

Based on another thread, I think you have purchased the pistol. I think $300 area is a good price for that pistol. They are great pistols IMO, and the main thing that it lacks is the automatic bolt stop on the last round in the magazine found on newer models, but that's not a deal breaker for me.

Yes, you are right. I bought it 2 days ago for $275. He wasn't offended at that price. He was selling it for someone else and didn't want anything to do with guns. Just wanted it gone.

Now I'm looking for the end label, manual and maybe the warranty card to make it whole again.

Here it is:

I just need the box label (I have the original box), original owner's manual dated 7/79, and warranty card if possible to make it whole. I've placed an ad in the classified for them. We'll see what happens.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Great purchase! You did fine. Mags alone are worth at least half of what you gave for the package. Enjoy it and hope you find a label soon.
