Wednesday afternoon practice before our monthly smallbore match.

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~25X
SK Standard Plus
Date: 10-9-19

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 4
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 26

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 34 (Woot!)

I don't know what happened with the Pigs on the first match but I must have gotten it sorted out for the second! Since these scores get sent in to the NRA that puts me two scores into Master class in Hunter rifle. Eek!

Our monthly club match.

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~25X
SK Standard Plus
Date: 10-12-19

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 5
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 24

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 5
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 4
TOTAL - 20

A cold-front came through Friday evening and dropped the temps from the 90's to the low 50's by Saturday morning. For some reason my ammo (SK Standard Plus) was shooting way low (~1.5 MOA across the board) and dropped at least 8 shots into the rail when I know I had a good clean break. I wasn't the only one having issues with shots going low, at least two other guys shooting SK had the same issue.

Luckily I had already ordered a case of SK Rifle Match from Kathy at Good Shooting, and hopefully it's less susceptible to the temperature changes than this batch of Standard Plus.

Two practice matches after shooting the 25-yard and 50-yard OH challenge (scores here).

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~25X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 10-20-19
Class: AAA/AAA

Match #1

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 30

Match #2

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 10 (Woot!)
TOTAL - 33

Had the range all to myself except for the second half of the second match. I should have gotten ten Pigs on the second match but the third pig knocked over the fourth, so I shot the fifth and then had to go to the swingers for my last shot. New NPA and different target (no foot on the swinger, no rail, etc.) was enough to make me choke and miss the last shot... Oh well. Still very happy with both scores being in the thirties.

match # 2

greetings,

here is my effort for Oct
same rifle as Sept
Ruger 10/22, CCI mini mag HP
Simmons scope
score:17
C: 3
P: 2
T: 5
R: 7

I shot my sighters and they were about 1-1/2" right and 1" low
with these cataracts my sight settings change every month, so I decided to just Kentucky it - bad idea
early next month I'll get both L & R eye lens replaced, so MAYBE I won't have this problem - but will probably have to start over with sight settings
oh well!

wasn't able to figure out where I was hitting until half way thru the match

The monthly match on the south side of town.

NRA steel, meters
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~25X
SK Rifle Match
Date: 10-26-19

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 30

Not happy about giving up so many Chickens but I made up for it on the Turkeys.

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 4
TOTAL - 30

I missed the whole second bank of Rams, all but one were completely my fault and the one was questionable. Still, nine Chickens and ten Pigs made up for the loss.

The best part... for the first time ever I managed to be the Match Winner! My friend who is a solid Master shooter had some issues connecting at the Turkeys and Rams today so I beat him by just a couple of points in the aggregate score.

I'll bet if you shot a second set you would have gotten a 7, 8, 9, and 10!

Please feel free to keep all that cold white stuff up there. We've got a small front moving through tonight/tomorrow and it's expected to be down in the 50's by Thursday. Burr!

Good shooting Purple Bikeer and Alan. Snow here since early this month, but I plan on shooting one paper silhouette match when we have a nice day, maybe air rifle, maybe 22.

Alan, nice picture of you on SC holding the cash! Congrats, all the shooting and practice has sure paid off for you.

Thanks. Pat bugged me to take a picture with my "winnings" to memorialize the occasion. It's hard to see but there's a "Match Winner" pin in there too.

Yes, I've been working hard and it feels good to feel like I'm continuing to make some improvement.

I'd take that bet and you would lose!!

50's? Brrr? The 'lil pond next to my duck pond is froze over. That shouldn't happen for 3-4 weeks. My duck pond my freeze over next week. S'posed to be highs in the low 30's.

Yea, I know, ywaltz, you are having real winter right now!

There's a full month of duck killin' to do, but if everything freezes up, it's over.
