Was at the Abq. Public Range (my 1st time) yesterday to test my 10/22 builds:

5 shots with my Charger build (6" ss KIDD barrel) using SK Pistol Match:

10 shots using the same ammo:

Distance: 25 yards

Pretty windy yesterday so I had to time my shots.

My 4x scope is lacking in the magnification department--a 7x or a 9x would be so much better for as long as the shape is akin to the one onboard.

These short KIDD barrels really rock!

I am tempted to build another one with a 10" KIDD barrel

I've been waiting for an ordered optic to arrive before showing my Charger (Talo 04919). I already had a Sig Romeo 5 red dot on hand but decided the proportions of Bushnell's Enrage would ideally complement this pistol. With 4.75" OAL (essentially same length as the picatinny rail) plus 25mm lens with 2 MOA dot, I think it'll provide superior field of view than typical 20mm red dots either shot on a bench or offhand. It comes with hi-rise mount installed but also with shorter screws to drop it lower to the rail. Standard position of the locking screw is on the RH side but I reversed it 180* to avoid interference with the charging handle in normal operation. Also noteworthy is the CAA UTG16 grip which contours to the laminated stock perfectly and with no gap at upper rear as I've seen on other grips installed on Chargers. I'm assuming it'll fit just as well on an OEM Charger polymer stock and will know soon since I have one of those inbound as well as 2nd grip of same model. Grips come with interchangeable front/rear straps, however it feels good as-is for my shooting hand. I also swapped in Ruger's BX-trigger assembly, otherwise this Charger remains stock.

Also showing one its range companions to-be, that being my 2004 vintage MkII "slabside" with factory (Lett) thumbrest grips. The combo of laminated grips and stainless finish was too good not to share in this "show 'em" thread topic. This one sports an UltraDot red dot. Not shown here is my 1991 vintage MkII (see it in my MkII section soft case thread), noting that I bought both of those pistols new.

^^^ Agreed! I bought a 2nd laminate stock from SAP, which when received had less than interesting "figure" (if that term applies to stocks cut from laminated blanks and then profiled to final shape). I started to recoat that textured black but instead, ordered one of their polymer takeoff (not takedown) stocks. Good cottage industry business to do business with. I've placed 3 orders now which all were promptly shipped.

BTW, I'm fussy enough that my motto often is; "when in doubt, overkill and throw more $$ at the project" in order to achieve desired results. I suppose its what the term called "disposable income" means...

Boyds stock very nice quality & perfect fit

Kidd barrel, Kidd charging handle, recoil spring & guide, the 60.00 Ruger trigger which I got down to about 2 lbs, and a Boyds stock, which, upon initial inspection, blew me out of the water because of the quality of the inletting. Gun will shoot 1" at 100 yards with good match ammo.

The stock needs a folder mechanism.
