Iím told there is a new 8 RD .22 WMR. On the SW site, but not from the main menu. Saw it on the SW forums. Anyone find one in the field?

I donít think itís available yet as the wholesalers listed on the website list it as stock watch ( waiting to be made)? Anyway-3 maybe as the model 48 & 18 both ended with dash 4 and when brought back out they were dash 7ís . Confusing as a lot of us went looking for the -5&6 which they say were never made . Sorry rambling on a little, anyway I hope the -3 comes available soon .

I wonder why the MSRP on the 648 is $749 while the MSRP on the 617 is $829?

IMHO, the M617 will outsell the M48 10 to one. S&W is out to make a profit, and that is OK. BIig Larry

Iím guessing itís an introductory price to get interest up . Hopefully not a misprint cause it definitely got some of our interest up.

I had a Model 63-5 that I sent back to S&W under warranty. They e-mailed me telling me it was unrepairable and they were going to send me a replacement gun. I already have a Model 617 I liked better the the Kit Gun, so asked if I could have a Model 648 instead, and they said yes. Hopefully it arrives soon.

The 617 is a 10 shot where the 648 is an 8 shot. Maybe you are paying for those two extra holes?

Because of the production wait I ended up getting a Model 66 as a replacement gun. It is excellent if you need a K-Frame .357 Magnum. My gun pusher at Great Northern Guns here in Anchorage showed me this the other day and set it aside for me. It came home with me today. I think it is the first one I have seen in stock anywhere. I picked up a Leupold DeltaPoint Pro for it and ordered a Wolff spring kit. Now all I need are some Hogue grips and an Allchin mount for the DP Pro. BTW...it is stamped "648-2" and the box is labeled the same.
