Shortest pistol barrel length

Hey guys I want to shorten my victory barrel to around 1.5inches. I want to do this to keep the overall length with the suppressor nice and short, and to be able to run buck pack ammo and stay subsonic. I have done a lot of looking and canít really find a answer to how much barrel length is needed to stabilize a 22 round. I donít want to have the round tumble and hit the baffles. I mainly shoot CCI standards and mini mags.

Ask the manufacturer of the suppressor.

Ask the manufacturer of the suppressor.

Keep in mind the round chambers in the barrel on a semi auto. You wont have much rifling left or are you thinking 1.5" from the chamber?

The only issue I believe you will see is the can getting dirtier than usual, since a lot of the powder will burn in the suppressor.

The barrel on a Beretta Bobcat is 2.4" including the chamber. A CCI 40 grain Minimag will be about 850 fps. Hope that helps.

1.5" is not going to stabilize the bullet and as other have mentioned your suppressor will be extremely dirty...FAST. Another thing you'll probably run into is getting the gun to function, as you probably know they're blow back and you are going to loose a lot of "pressure" with the short barrel. I dinked around with a MKIII 22/45 years back and never got it to run more than a magazine before it would puke...lighter springs EVERYWHERE, lighten bolt...nothing worked. Gave the gun to a buddy knowing he would have to purchase a new upper. Long story, but I wouldn't go shorter than about 3-3.5" and at the 3" mark you might have issues.

Bulk pack ammo will stay subsonic in a 4"-4 1/2" barrel.

Interesting views. I cut a Ruger standard barrel to 1.97" ( from end to end including the chamber ) rounds stabilize just fine, It runs fine. and the can is only slightly dirtier..
