June 2019 CZ/BRNO Open Sight 25 Yard Rimfire Central Online Benchrest Match

Guidelines:

CZ or BRNO open sighted sporters – less than or equal to 8.5 lbs when weighed with the magazine removed – any safe trigger – CZ factory open sights only (no optics, peeps, ghost rings, apertures, or receiver sights allowed).

No aftermarket barrels or stocks — only CZ's original stocks and barrels. It is also prohibited to swap the stocks of different CZ models such as taking the stock from a Varmint and putting it on a Trainer. If one has damaged his/her original CZ stock, they may order the same exact factory replacement stock for their specific model. There are other BR games on RFC for dramatically altered rifles. We are trying to encourage competition with unmodified or minimally modified open-sighted CZ sporters. No aftermarket barrels or stocks — only CZ's original stocks and barrels. As to custom stock bedding performed on a factory stock, no compound-bedding allowed, pillared or non, and plain pillar bedding is prohibited as well.

Target is either the A-23/5 or the A-23/5R (shooter's preference)

22 long rifle

Fired from a benchrest using front and rear support, must be free recoiling (no gun vises), but a bi-pod is fine if the shooter prefers.

Distance to target is 25 yards

Time limit - 1 hour for unlimited sighters at the top bull and 20 rounds for score at bulls #1, #2, #3, and #4 (five rounds at each).

You can shoot on an indoor range if it is your only option, but please report that fact in your post.

You can post multiple targets if each is fired with a different CZ. For example, a shooter could post one with her CZ FS and another with her CZ Trainer. You may shoot up to FOUR targets with EACH rifle and post the highest score fired with each one.

Post a pic of your target (required) and the equipment you used (optional) in this thread by June 30, 2019.

Honor system, and we couldn't ask for a more honorable bunch.

A spotting scope will be most helpful in determining hits and misses as you are shooting, but it is not required. Binoculars or a scoped rifle laying to the side can be used to spot as well.

Wind flags are fine. I usually tie a piece of bright streamer or the like to a hammered-in stake.

*Use this format to post your score(s):

6/11/2019
200-11X
Hunting Girl
CZ 455 Lux, SK Subsonic Hollow Points
Bi-pod and rear bag
Calm and temps in the 80s

* This way I can simply save and insert your scores to the final results post at the end of the month. Thanks.

Sunny, light Breeze, 90F

Beautiful day at the range yesterday, the light breeze kept everything comfortable.
The fourth shot on Bull #4, really aggravated me, the first three were grouped
together, the fourth shot is a -3 at 11 O'Clock in the seven ring, fifth shot went into the ten ring.
That -3 fourth shot was either the ammo or the devil, just to vex me..

Thanks! That was a good day. Nice to have when the previous days I had been off my game.

CZ 452 Trainer, Sk Magazine
Protektor front & rear bags
Sunny, wind 3-5 from my left and temp at 91.

After last months effort I noticed I hadn't cleaned the rifle in a while and did that. Also thought I'd upgrade the ammo from Aguila SESV to SK Magazine. Upshot is a few more X's. Don't know which shot was the flier on bull #4.

Thanks again Danny for this event. I especially like the 4 target limit - it puts the right amount of emphasis on the event.

CZ 452 Trainer, CCI Standard Velocity
Caldwell Rock BR and Caldwell rear bag with an Alpen spotting scope
80 degrees under cloudy skies with very little wind

I was struggling with my stalwart 452 UltraLux this morning. Time for a break, I had recently removed a scope from the newer of my two 452 Trainers and brought it along to check the zero of the open sights. I still have the better part of a case of CCI Standard Velocity, so I decided to zero the Trainer with that cartridge. The un-shot bulls of the UltraLux's target rendered promise for the Trainer in this game.

The attached pic was our only run with the Trainer. As usual, bull #2 was my best effort. The high right plugged 10 on #4 came close to costing me what may be my best effort to date in this online open sight match. It was the first shot on #4, and I'm glad I could settle down and finish strong with 4Xs.

I'll campaign with this Trainer for a while. A change like this can almost be like having a new rifle. Fun!
