Can’t wait to see your full review of the production version. I live in a non-lead state so very interested in how it shoots the Hornady NTX.

I have not heard of any other versions yet. But as folks have said, if it is popular I'm sure other versions will be available.
When you get a chance, start a new thread....please?!?

Im most interested in Reliabilty and what the cases look like after being fired. This is going to be a watershed moment for the round. If works in a semi auto, people will shoot it and more manufactures, will start kicking out rifles and ammo.

Good luck.

I covered the reliability portion in my initial review. Check it out here: http://www.varminter.com/the-new-sav...-mach-2-17hm2/

I'll be shooting it a lot over the next week, including lots of range work. I will also update everyone on accuracy and reliability again.

I see this rifle is listed on Whittakers website for less than $300. Be glad to read some more reviews on it, I'm about fed up waiting on the mystical unicorn (Ruger RAR) to show up.

Sorry folks! Due to weather and some other projects (because of the weather), I've shot the factory rifle only a little. I'll be taking it with me to Montana soon and we hope to get into some decent ground squirrel hunting, so I'll have an update after that.

I may need to add one to my HM2 stable. Any comments on the trigger, I have no experience with the Savage AccuTrigger?

What!?! Not possible a bunch of “experts” on the forum said the m2 was “dead”. Lol, yeah one of the most accurate small calibers ever dead. 🙂

The Accu-trigger on my A17 HMR didn’t go lower than 5 pounds. After sending it back to Savage it’s at a nice 2.5 pounds. I’m pretty sure they’re going to use the same trigger in the 17 Mach 2.

Received my savage today. Hopefully my ammo gets here tomorrow, I did fire three rounds of older ammo I had, gun did function for those three test rounds. Took apart and cleaned. Trigger at lightest adjustment was around 4.5 lbs. This can be fixed. I plan on bedding the action, and taking an inch off the stock. Will not do any of that work, till I shoot a few groups, with the two different kinds of ammo, want to make sure functioning is good. I do not want to do the work on the stock and bedding if the gun is not functioning properly. If I think it is shooting decent I will probably have the barrel and receiver cryogentic treatment. The barrel is two inches shorter than my same gun in HMR. I wish my HMR had a shorter barrel, like this. Got the gun from Reeds.
