Nice build and nice stock mod. I like the way it turned out.
How do you like the Vortex Strike Eagle? From what I understand they are being discontinued and they do not have Vortex's premium glass. I have one on an Anschutz 1416 and I just bought one for my Kidd chassis build. I have no problems with the one on my Anschutz (it is the 4X24 50). Just wondering how these scopes are working out.

Love the scope clear and bright. Dial up and down 20 30 moa all the time great return to zero. Only complaints made in China, depth of field is low at close ranges. 24 X in crisp focus at 20 yards is very sweet. I would buy it again.

I'm new to the forum, so this has probably been commented on... I've been building a BRN22 in a PMACA chassis for Steel Challenge... the take down screw had been loosening (I have a 12x24x3/4 on the way) and found that the receiver rocked (as commented on by the Kidd rear mount kit advertisement) but solved most of my problem by inserting a shim out of a piece of Coke can... an "L" shaped piece was initially tried and worked pretty well, but the second attempt was to thicken the shim foot... the base of the shim at the rear was folded back on itself twice for three thicknesses...the vertical remaining part holds it in place... seemed to really tighten up the assembly, and eliminated my perceived"rocking".... regards

For this build, I would recommend the fifth receiver shown here.

If the action rocked in the chassis before adding the rear hold down then you still have a problem. With alot of the aftermarket stocks for the 10/22 the shorter TD screw from VQ takes care of this issue. When you get your new TD screw try installing the action without the rear tang first just to make sure. If it's still rocking then you are probably going to need to do some bedding. Even though the rear hold down makes it feel secure it's not and will probably have issues with consistent accuracy.

Nick... thank you for the reply, sorry I didn't get back sooner....I front bedded the barrel in addition to the rear shims...added a 1" section of Picatinny rail inside the front of the chassis, just in front of the take down screw... rail section is upside down to fit the contour of the bottom of the barrel and slips over one of the protruding mounting screws from the bottom section of rail to hold in place... not a pillar bed, but more of a pressure point.... found a longer 12x24 cap screw and trimmed to length, added a flat and lock washer and some blue loctite... about 500 through it and no problem... ran well at the steel challenge match Saturday...regards

Steel Challenge does not really need highly accurate rifle... my STC gun from the late 90's would hold 1" for 10 shots with high velocity ammo at 90yd.... 6x24x44 Tasco AO with 1/8th minute clicks and dot

just added a folding stock adapter to the PMACA chassis that my Charger take down is in... saw a video on youtube and purchased a UTG side folding adapter for an AK47 from S&P Outfitters... very reasonable price... I don't have a castle nut wrench at home, but it is pretty solid... this is from the 704 project on the S&P web site... the video that showed me the project

I have a PMACA standard (no provison for KIDD rear tang) that has a Tactical Innovations trigger assembly, and although it is very much a copy of the OEM Ruger trigger assembly, there are differences in the dimensions between the two.

I noticed that it "touched" (kind of like a shimmed effect) the delrin inverted L shape (a PMACA staple) atop the pistol grip slightly, and when I tightened the action screw, the whole assembly became rock solid with the added leverage.

I originally thought of relieving the anomaly when I first noticed it but decided against it---turned out I was right about my decision.

Read somewhere of a guy relieving the aforesaid inverted L delrin, as he had issues with his action not sitting right. Forgot what trigger assembly he had though, perhaps an aftermarket one like mine.

Perhaps I got lucky with mine the combination was just right.
