If you accept the scripted reply, it goes something like this...

We build the cartridges for "pick a company" to their specifications as per the contract.

When you get past the scripted reply and talk to senior staff, ask for details.
They'll try to avoid specifics, but if y'er annoying enough, the specifics are not all that much.
Headstamps, bullet type-weight, tip colors, labeling to fit the company logo.
The brass is the same. Bullets are the same, powder is the same, primer is the same.
It's all from CCI's wholesale suppliers. Other than that, the cartridges are intended to meet saami specs.

On a Saturday night when I had absolutely nothing better to do, I took a half a box (25 cartridges) of CCC Vmax in 17 Mach 2. On my RCBS digital scale, they came in at:

21 cartridges @ 29.7 grains
22 cartridges @ 29.8 grains
2 cartridges @ 29.9 grains

Then, this morning, I shot those for groups of five cartridges at 50 yards. Conditions were not ideal, with light winds, but not bad either. The results?

29.7 grains Group 1 = 0.565 inches CTC
29.7 grains Group 2 = 0.508 inches CTC

29.8 grains Group 1 = 0.674 inches CTC
29.8 grains Group 2 = 0.689 inches CTC

And then, just for giggles, I shot the two 29.9 grain cartridges. The result? 0.888 inches CTC

I am fully aware of the small sample size here, and I have no doubt that the wind had an effect on the groups.

Still, between squirrel1's data and mine, my curiosity is sufficiently engaged to find a more accurate scale and do some more testing.

Enjoy!
Dave
If I recall my statistics class from MBA days, the minimum random sample size to reflect the statistical distribution of a universe is 30. 30 will get you into the ball park and bigger sample sizes just refine the distribution.

Nothing that any of can do post-production is going to improve the accuracy of rimfire ammo because we can really only measure and select by two variables; rim thickness and weight of the assembled cartridge.

Or so it seems to me.

Except neither rim thickness or cartridge weight did me anything useful.
Tried it with 22lr, 22wmr and 17 hmr, a brick each time.
Kept me occupied for an evening, and a few weekends of shooting and chronographing.
You can try it, but it won't do much but kill time.
