Broken Mainspring

Was cleaning my Mark lll upon taking the mainspring out the lock lever broke off. I have always taken apart and cleaned after a double contest week. Once a month bowling pins, second is a club shoot. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem. It just surprised me. This Wednesday Iím going to go to my backup,a Browning Buckmark UDX with a Burris FFlll. The Browning is a great gun but I really like the Ruger Target. Sorry for the rant,it ticks me off my main.22 is hurt.

No, this is one I have not heard of before. I'm sure Ruger will take care of it.

Many years ago I broke the mainspring assembly on a Mark II, it probably had tens of thousand rounds through it. Ruger sent me a replacement for free. You use your Mark III a lot, and eventually some parts will fail. It's the sign of a well used pistol - enjoy!

It is a well used gun,Been using for many years and has never failed me.Until now and it has me thinking,it might be time to move on to a Mark lV Target Model 40159. This way I can use my current gun as a backup and start wearing out a new one.

Read your booklet that came w. the gun and call the order number. Buy two, one to install and a spare. While your at it get a firing pin and the couple little pieces that are 'down under' the firing pin.

Be prepared.

Will Ruger still sell the MSA to the owner? Lots of parts they won't anymore.

Probably will require an exchange for a mainspring housing - when they were on shopruger dot com, that was a qualifier.

Just a bit of advice- if you send it to Ruger- make sure that all aftermarket stuff is taken off. They put guns back to the way that they left the factory. That includes grips, sights and any other add-ons. Don't ask me how I know this......
